Is there a one-time registration fee?

There is no one-time fee. Campers register and pay only for the weeks of camp that they plan to attend.

Is there an extra charge for field trips or other activities?

No, the only fee is the weekly registration fee.

How soon do I need to register my child?

Sessions fill quickly. You should enroll your child as soon as you decide which weeks you want him/her to attend. Registration opens April 1.

How do I register my child for camp?

  1. ONLINE - Starting April 1

    This is the fastest way to secure a spot at camp for your child. Click the Online Registration icon at makeyourdayhere.com/daycamp.

  2. BY MAIL - Starting April 1

    Complete the registration form and mail with payment to:

  3. BY FAX - Starting April 1

    Complete the Registration Form and fax with payment to:

    Please call 816-229-8980 after transmission to be sure we received a legible copy.

  4. LEAVE IT IN OUR DROP BOX - After April 1

    Leave the completed Registration Form and payment in our drop-box just inside the gate at the Kemper Outdoor Education Center. The gates are open 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., weekdays after April 1.

  5. IN PERSON - After May 1

    Bring it in person to the Kemper Outdoor Education Center during business hours, 8 am - 4 pm, weekdays.

  6. BY PHONE - After May 1

Who do I make the check payable to?

Please make checks payable to Jackson County Parks + Rec or JCP+R.

What are the camp fees?

I have more than one child. Is there a discount for additional children?

Yes, there is a discount for additional children. They must be from the same immediate family, living in the same household, and attending the same week of camp. To find the day camp fees, please call 816-229-8980, ext. 101, or visit the Fees page.

What if my child doesn’t need to come 5 days a week?

We only accept registration for full week sessions. Your child doesn’t have to come every day, but you will have to pay for the full week.

Can my child come all summer?

You can register your child for a single week or all 10 weeks.

Does my child have to come all summer?

No, you can register your child for just 1 week, or as many weeks as you’d like.

If the week we want is already full, do you keep a waiting list?

Yes. Call 816-229-8980, ext. 101, to get on the waiting list for a specific week. If a space becomes available, you will be contacted by email or phone. You must be prepared to pay for the space immediately if you want to reserve it.

Can I tour the camp before I register my child?

You can tour the Kemper Outdoor Education Center on your own after April 1 during normal hours. Please note that the day camp site will be in the process of being prepared right up until the start of camp. The Kemper Outdoor Education Center is open 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. weekdays after April 1.  From April 6 to May 15, our staff will be conducting environmental education field trips for local school districts.  If you are touring the camp during that time period, it would be best to come after 2 pm when the schools have left and our staff is available to answer your questions.

Are there any other forms besides the Registration Form that will need to be completed?

Yes. After you submit your Registration Form and payment, you will receive a Parent Pack. It will have all the information you’ll need about day camp and additional forms which must be returned 2 weeks before you child comes to camp. The forms included are:

  2. Health Questionnaire
  3. Authorized Ride Form
  4. Medication Form
  5. Code of Conduct Agreement

What is the Parent Pack?

The Parent Pack is a multi-page document that contains additional information for parents who have already registered their child for camp. It will have all the information you’ll need about day camp and additional forms which must be returned 2 weeks before you child comes to camp. The forms included are:

Where do I get the Parent Pack?

If you register online, the Parent Pack will be emailed to you as an attachment with your receipt. You can call 816-229-8980, ext. 0 to have the Parent Pack mailed or emailed to you, or you can click on the link below.

How/When/Where do I turn in the Parent Pack forms?

New this year! The Parent Pack forms should be completed and submitted online. The Parent Pack forms must be completed and turned in AT LEAST TWO WEEKS BEFORE YOUR CHILD ATTENDS CAMP.

Will my child have to receive a physical before camp?

No. There is a health questionnaire in the Parent Pack which you will need to complete and turn in in 2 weeks before your child attends camp.

Can I enroll my child for 1 week to see if he/she likes it before signing up for more weeks?

You can do that, but all subsequent weeks may be full if you try to register after camp has started.

Can I put a deposit on additional sessions to hold a space for my child?

No. You must pay for each session in full to reserve a space.

Are there refunds if I change my mind?

If you cancel 30 days or more in advance, we will refund 85% of your fees. If you cancel less than 30 days in advance, we will refund 75% but only if we can fill the space from our waiting list.

What if I need to switch sessions after I enroll my camper?

There is a $20 Transfer Fee to switch sessions. There must be space in another session to be able to make a switch. Call the Kemper office at 816-229-8980.
