Drive all the way to the back of the property to the Jacomo Day Camp shelter house. A Day Camp Counselor will meet you on the parking lot to have you sign your child in. If, for any reason, your child’s name does not show up on the Attendance Sheet for that week, you will have to go into the Kemper office before you can drop your child off at the shelter house. Please allow 10 or 15 minutes to complete the sign-in process, especially on Mondays.

If your child is enrolled for extended hours, you can arrive any time after 6:45 a.m. Although we have counselors on site shortly before that time, they are not allowed to sign campers in until 6:45.

If your child is enrolled for regular hours, he/she needs to be there by 9 a.m. Please arrive between 8:45 and 8:50 a.m. to have time to complete the sign-in process.

The Parent Pack includes a Ride Authorization Form that you must complete and SUBMIT ONLINE TWO WEEKS BEFORE YOUR CHILD ATTENDS CAMP. On it you will list all the people who are authorized to pick up your child (don’t forget to put your own name on it) along with contact information. You must show a photo ID when you pick up a child. We do not allow the child to leave with anyone whose name is not on their Ride Authorization Form.

We encourage parents to drop off their campers by 9 a.m. so they don’t miss out on any of the fun. Some field trips leave promptly at 9 a.m. Some groups may start out the day with a hike and be away from camp when you arrive late.

If you must be late, you can notify the Kemper office at 816-229-8980. Be sure to tell us your child’s age and which group he is assigned to. If your group is away from camp when your child arrives, he/she will be moved temporarily to another age group.

You can also tell your child’s counselor the day before that you will be late due to an appointment, etc. 

Please notify the Kemper office 816-229-8980, ext. 101, and your child’s camper in advance so that your child is not away on a field trip or other activity when you arrive. You can also email us this notice the previous day.

Complete the Medication Request and Authorization Form in your Parent Pack. Submit it TWO WEEKS BEFORE YOUR CHILD ATTENDS CAMP. On the first day of camp, bring your child’s medication to the Kemper office.  It should be in the original bottle with the original label. Please pick up any leftover medications from the Kemper office on Friday.

Please note that we do not have a Camp Nurse on staff. We can only accommodate simple medication requests. Any leftover medication that has not been claimed by September will be turned into the local law enforcement agency for disposal.

You will receive an email with the Field Trip Schedule the Friday before your child’s camp session.

Children signed up for extended hours should be picked up by 5:45 p.m. and there is a $1 per minute late charge after that. If you are late picking up your child past 6 p.m. or later you will be asked to remove him from the day camp. We do not have personnel on staff after that time to be responsible for campers. If there is an emergency, call 816-229-8980, ext. 101, to let us know you are running late.

If your child is signed up for regular hours, he/she should be picked up between 3:45 and 4 p.m. Please do not pick your camper up before 3:45 so that he/she can participate in closing ceremonies (with announcements and reminders). Picking your child up after 4 p.m. will incur the $1 per minute late charge or the fee for extended hours. In an emergency, call 816-229-8980 to let us know you are running late.

Be sure to list everyone on your Ride Authorization Form that might pick up your child in an emergency. They will need to show a picture ID when picking up your child. We cannot accept emailed or called in additions to the ride authorization list.

If you must call us with an emergency add-on, we will call you back on 1 or more of the phone numbers you have listed on your child’s Camper Information Form to verify your identity.

All of our camp staff is certified in Red Cross First Aid and they will handle minor injuries (minor cuts, scratches, bumps, bruises, splinters) when they occur. You will receive a note documenting the injury and the treatment when you pick your child up at the end of the day. In the event of an injury that may need medical attention, necessary first aid steps will be implemented and you will be notified by phone where you can decide whether to pick up your child early or leave him/her at camp until the end of the day. There may be instances where we require you to pick up your child early. In the event of a very serious injury, 911 will be called and you will be notified by phone.

If a child doesn’t feel well, he/she is usually allowed to rest inside and drink water. If the child isn’t able to return to activities shortly, you will be notified (as you would for an injury). Serious illnesses are handled in the same manner as serious injuries. We may require you to pick up your child if he/she is ill or has a communicable condition.
