About the Park

Blue River Parkway is located on 2,267 acres. It borders the Big Blue River from Swope Park south to the southern end of Jackson County. The County has recently updated the long range master plan for this park. Click here for more information and to provide your input.

This multi-faceted parkland features many amenities, including several miles of multi-use trails, sports facilities, and natural areas. Highlights include:

• Kenneth Road Sports Complex
• Hiking Trails
• Picnic Area

Blue River Greenway Trail

• Trailhead at Alex George Wetland (10831 Blue River Road, KCMO)
• Connects to Indian Creek Trail at the confluence of Indian Creek and the Blue River
• 5.5 miles, including segments in Kansas City Parks

Blue River Mountain Bike Trails

• Over 25 total miles with varying degrees of difficulty and challenge
• Trail segments generally between Bannister Road south to Blue Ridge Blvd.
• Trails built and managed by the Urban Trail Company

Blue River Nature Trails

• Blue River Glades Trail - 1.2 mile loop near 80th Street and Blue River Road (park on shoulder)
• Eddy Ballentine Trial -1.4 mile loop near 80th Street and Blue River Road (Park on shoulder)
