Kemper Outdoor Education Center

Nestled in Fleming Park on the east side of Lake Jacomo, the Kemper Outdoor Education Center is a great place for kids—and kids at heart—to have fun and explore the outdoors. The site hosts field trip programs, special events, facility rentals, and the popular Jacomo Summer Camp.

The grounds feature: the Western Auto Habitat Trail (1 mile) with wetland, prairie, woodland, and cactus glade habitats; butterfly and water gardens; wildlife viewing areas; an archery range; arboretum; playground; swimming pool; and a shelter house.

April 1 - Mid-May:       Closed holidays and when the site is reserved for field trips
     
May 27 -  Aug 15:       Closed to the public while the Jacomo Summer Camp is in session

Programs 

X-stream Green Field Trips 

Kemper Outdoor Education Center offers guided interpretive programs for schools and homeschool groups. From April to May, and August to September. X-Stream Green offers multi-station outdoor education opportunities for 1st to 5th grade classrooms. Interactive programs include guided hiking, fishing, fire starting, pond study, recycling, and much more! 

Jacomo Summer Camp

Home to Jacomo Summer Camp since 1977, this popular outdoor education/recreation program promises kids a "summer they'll never forget." Open to kids ages 6 to 11, these ten themed weeks include swimming, canoeing, kayaking, archery, hiking, camping skills, nature study, field trips, arts and crafts, sports and games.

Scout Projects

A Scout project at Kemper Outdoor Education Center offers budding young leaders the ability to engage in meaningful community service, fulfill rank requirements, and contribute to the mission of Kemper for years to come. A limited number of projects ranging in size and complexity are available each year for Girl Scouts working toward their Gold Award and Boy Scouts working toward their Eagle Scout Award.

Weddings and Site Rentals
