Paper Marbling and Quill Writing at Fort Osage
Next date: Saturday, July 25, 2026 | 10:00 AM
to 12:00 PM
The art of paper marbling dates back to the 12th century in Japan and China and expanded into Europe in the 1600s, making its way to America by the 1800s. Most marbling was made for decorative bookbinding, stationary, and boxes. Participants will create their own marbled paper and turn it into a notebook, which they can take home. After your notebook is created, the instructor will teach how to mix ink, demonstrate the proper form of writing with a quill, and learn how to trim the end to keep its shape.
