  1. The Life & Legend of Daniel Boone

    Visitors will come to understand who the real Daniel Boone was and how, during his lifetime, he became a national hero who was celebrated by the press and writers into the 20th century. Boone’s tie to Missouri covered more than two decades, including a visit to Fort Osage while on a hunting trip in 1816. Patrons will literally walk in Boone’s footsteps when they visit the reconstructed Fort and Factory trade house.

    Join us for the annual shearing of Missouri Town 1855’s resident flock of sheep. Skilled artisans demonstrate all aspects of wool productions from shearing, washing, carding, dyeing, spinning and weaving. Kids will dive into a pie eating contest and join in the fun of games played by their ancestors in the mid-1800s.

    Wear your hiking shoes, bring your camera and pack your insect repellent for this outdoor adventure! Enjoy a walk along the banks of the Missouri River and the grounds of the historic Fort. Learn about the native plant and animal species common to the area, with special attention given to the species found by Lewis & Clark during their 1804-1806 expedition.
